Prof. Dr. Raluca Cosgarea is an Associate Professor at the Clinic for Periodontology, Operative and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Bonn, Germany, where she also serves as Dean of Studies for Dentistry at the Medical Faculty. With over two decades of clinical expertise in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, Prof. Cosgarea is a recognised authority in her field.
She earned her dental degree and doctoral title (Dr. med. dent.) from the University of Heidelberg, where she also completed her specialist training in Periodontology through the German Society of Periodontology (DG PARO). Her academic career includes appointments as Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at Heidelberg University, the University of Bern in Switzerland, and the University Clinic Marburg. She has also held a teaching position at the University “Iuliu-Hatieganu” in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and was awarded the venia legendi from the University of Marburg in 2018.

Prof. Cosgarea currently serves on the board of the German Society of Periodontology (DG PARO), is Secretary of the Project Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), and Treasurer of the International Academy for Periodontology (IAP). Her research interests include antimicrobial periodontal therapy, regenerative and mucogingival surgery, and the management of peri-implant infections. She is the recipient of multiple awards from the Swiss and German Societies of Periodontology, the International Academy of Periodontology, and was honoured with the prestigious EFP-Jaccard Prize in 2022.
